What I Love About Sundays

Bedtime soon, so let's cut to the chase:

1. My appetite! Oh, it has been so long since I have seen and felt you. So glad you made an appearance on the day that held fresh, grilled mititei. Nom.

2. Throwing up sans nausea. Kind of cool and WAY better than constant nausea. TH also inherited the one remaining knish.

3. Three hour naps. Need I say more?

4. Tomorrow is my last class for this summer session! The final is on Wednesday, and I am so ready for a break, even if it's only a week.

5. Sleepy kitties. Jones accosted me for some loving about 15 minutes ago and then promptly crashed on the couch. She's to my right, passed out with her legs all out in front of her, and Smith is on my left, curled up in a ball on his favorite pillow. Love.

6. Telling teenage boys they are going to be uncles. Super cute. Roberto, 16, gives about the same amount of emotion and dialogue as a stone statue these days, but the huge smile was apparent through his voice. (He's the one famous for the comment about not wanting me to have babies yet b/c he was unemployed and thus would only be able to buy the baby socks.) The Middle Child, 13, has already determined that the baby is a girl, as per some movie he watched, which he will show me upon their arrival later this week, because more girls are born in January. I have no idea how he pulled that out of his ass, but I suspect he'll show/tell me next weekend, as promised. The Middle Child is also The Talker. Mom apparently asked each of them what I told them after they were done talking to me: Roberto said I was buying him a new car, and The Middle Child told her I was taking him to a Yankee game. Goobers.

7. The fam is visiting for the holiday weekend, and The Belle, 12, is more than likely staying with us. The Middle Child has wicked cat allergies, so I think everyone else will stay at the nearby hotel. I can't wait for sister time. We're both craving it.

So, what's going to carry you into a hot and sweaty Monday morning? What was great about your week(end)?

What I Love About Sundays

Where do I start? This weekend was lame-o if you're me, but if you're TH, MIL or FIL, it was highly productive...in our apt. Friday night started out great with baby yoga and my favorite baby-approved sushi. But, it quickly turned ugly when I bent over in the bathroom to touch Jones and tossed my sushi cookies. :( And thus, the weekend did NOT go well for me.

I woke up throwing up again Sat morning and literally counted down until Erika. She helped, but the car ride home was very unhelpful. I ended up taking a 3 hour nap while MIL tidied and cleaned, and FIL and TH did some minor patches around the apt. They put up the shelves I've been accumulating since about February, and it absolutely made my day.

Today was more of the same; I woke up at 9.30am, woke TH up so he could watch the World Cup game, and then fell asleep for another 3 hour nap by about 10.30. TH and FIL did more chores around the house while I vegged on the couch. I was feeling better so we went to Homegoods for a few much needed shelf items. (Yes, much needed.) We rounded it out with dinner at the restaurant where we had our wedding reception. And, now I'm effing beat.

So, without further adieu, here's the list:

1. My over-the-desk shelves. Love, love, love. The shelf brackets (slightly Summer B inspired) came out fantastic with a little green apple spray paint.
2. MIL She freaking cleaned while I slept. Did I mention the woman cleans for a living? She means business.

3. A good phone call with my dad. Since the dreadful day he was taken to the hospital in February, my dad has seemed to return to his old self. He'd been depressed for quite some time now (since my gramma passed away), and it seems like he's returned to his happier, softer self. It makes me happy. He's also pretty happy with our good news. He almost leaked the secret today at my grampa's, but he said he talked himself out of it. It's kind of cute the whole family is having a hard time keeping a lid on it, too.

4. Eves. Do you have one of those friends that just makes you laugh and brings smiles to everyone's face with their antics and stories? That's her. I changed her ringer on my phone to The Entertainer this weekend. :) If Baby is a girl, she will possibly be named after Auntie Eves somehow because she's how TH and I met. I'm not sure she remembers this yet, but it will be fun if it comes to a reality.

5. The SMT's gold shorts. Saw the pictures, love. You rocked 'em. :)

6. TH. Have I mentioned how freaking awesome he is? I woke up from part of today's nap to him sitting on the bed next to me, reading the pregnancy book. He's since told me that Baby is doing fantastic b/c I feel like such shit; smoothies are excellent sources of vitamin C, which will help prevent spider veins (???); melons are good for me to eat; and that the baby will start to sign back to us around 7 mos old. (He's TOTALLY into Baby Sign Language, so I got him his own book for Almost Father's Day today.) He's seriously the best.

So, my headache is coming back. Any suggestions for how to get rid of it? Tylenol isn't very helpful. I'm off to bed (and will sneak in my homework assignment during work tomorrow!) Sweet dreams, and don't forget to leave a note about what's going to carry you into Monday morning.

PS Here's a few more Mexico pics.

What I Love About Sundays

Without further adieu...

1. New purple Black.berries. They are even more awesome when they are practically free! I was in desperate need of a new one but too cheap to shell out the money, so this little exchange worked well.

2. Pre-natal yoga. Effing awesome. All weekend, TH has thrown in a "push your baby forward" just to see my silly grin.

3. Converse dresses at Target. Super comfy and only $20. I'm pretty excited for some comfy dresses.

4. TH found dress pants. Thank the Lord. If I had to do one more shopping trip for flat front, nice material that's part wool dress pants, it might have gotten ugly. It was only 1/4 pickiness and 3/4 chitty fit. )))hips of any kind(((

5. Easy summer classes. I'm not having to do nearly as much work for this class as I had to for the other ones I've had in the last two semesters.

6. Last one, and it's a big brag. My GPA is freaking awesome, *especially* when you consider that for the entire time I've been in this program, we've been doing treatments. I had thought this semester was going to be a disaster, but it turned out beautifully. I kind of hate school right now (I feel like there will be little stress-free, schedule-free time to just enjoy life and pregnancy before Baby comes), so I needed this boost this week to remind me that my hard work is paying off in numerous ways.

7. Ok, the real last one. My mom, step-dad and the kids are coming for the 4th! I can't wait to see The Belle!!! :D :D :D

So, what's going to carry you into Monday during tomorrow's commute? What'll make you fight off the urge to head straight for the beach and sunny pastures?

What I Love About Sundays: Long Weekend Edition

Hiya ladies! I hope you all are enjoying your long weekends, which have hopefully been filled with many a grilled burger and lawn chair. We hosted a small BBQ for TH's family on Saturday, and we told SIL, BIL, the aunt, and the uncle about Baby. It went over surprisingly well (SIL and BIL are not known for their well-placed comments), though I still feel the worst is yet to come. TH did the honors, but he didn't quite announce the IVF factor. I suspect SIL is going to have a pile of questions for him.I also talked to one of my aunts yesterday, and it turns out a family member with whom I did NOT share our infertility woes with asked my aunt if she knew how our last treatment went. *insert stern face here* I suspect I know who the loud mouthed culprit is (someone I didn't tell but I think knew from another source). If I weren't pregnant and typing this out, I'd be reeling. I will admit, I'm pretty irritated, but I'm trying to just let it go. If the whole family knows, they are actually doing a good job by knowing not to ask us about it. Small blessing?
Let's get on to the good stuff. What's going to round out your holiday weekend, the unofficial start to summer, and help you glide into a short (but still annoying) work week?

1. Cheeseburgers fresh from the grill. Is there any better bbq food? I'm not so sure. I had to pass on my favorite Romanian sausages (unheard of), but the burgers TH cooked up were fantastic. I'm pretty glad we're headed to another bbq today, hamburger meat in tow. (((beef)))

2. 8 weeks and an u/s tomorrow. I think we might actually be released to an OB tomorrow. Kind of shocking, really effing awesome.
3. MIL and FIL. Even if TH and I are having a mild battle about him going over there frequently, they are simply great. We came home from Mexico to a clean kitchen (she wiped down the inside of the dish washer!) and a closet full of washed and ironed TH dress shirts. She feeds the kittehs while we're gone, and she sometimes can't help herself. I learned early, with some help from my mom, that if she wants to do stuff in our house, LET HER. And thus, I rejoiced at the ironed shirts!
4. Mamina (Romanian grandmas). TH told them this week, and their response was the sweetest yet. MIL showed up to the bbq yesterday armed with 3 rounds of kisses from Romania. ♥

5. The promise of a girls' weekend. The SMT and I seem to be going rogue this coming weekend. I hope everything works out b/c I can't wait!
6. Gorgeous weather. I don't dig being hot right now, but I prefer this to rain any day (unless it's a thunderstorm and I'm inside!) Sunshine just fits my mood these days.7. These shoes in cream. I think they are going to be great with pants for work this summer. We had an impromptu outlet trip (any ideas on stores to get TH some new dress pants? Banana and Brooks Brothers were a definite bust.), and these shoes will look super cute with a few summer cardigans I bought.
8. Does that picture need any explanation? *le sigh* Maybe more to come, if you're good. ;)

What I Love About Sundays

It's late. Let's cut to the chase so that I can finally get to bed!

1. One more work day until Mexico!!!

2. My Genetics grade is in, and given where my grade started after the first exam (and also our first IVF m/c), I did fantastic. I was worried we might have to pay for this class because work doesn't pay for a grade below a B, but I made it by the skin of my teeth. My other two classes should be As, so this semester went surprisingly well given the IVFs. I'm actually really proud of myself, which is not something I feel often.

3. Last paper of the semester is complete!! (And this is why Sundays is late this week!) All that stands in the way of Mexico is a day of work, a trip to the nail salon, and a whole lotta packing.

4. Yolk sacs. The surprise and happiness in the RE's voice was awesome.

5. Maternity shorts. I'm emotionally battling them, but the are definitely needed for Mexico and this coming summer. They are comfortable, and I am pregnant. Why NOT?

6. Erika. I had such a good visit with her yesterday for acupuncture. I'll miss next Saturday, just a tiny bit.

7. TH. Eve told TH congratulations today, and his response of genuine happiness was too adorable for words. He's being adorable, even if I seem to have less patience for his loud chewing and ridiculous amounts of family contact. Must figure out the hormones, stat.

8. Auntie B. I miss her, and the little snippets of conversation we've had this week have made me so happy. I can't wait for trips, birthday planning, showers in Michigan, and nursery planning with her. She'll keep me grounded and rejoicing.

So, what's carrying you into Monday with a too short weekend on your back?

02 May 2010

What I Love About Sundays

Darker lines, that's what I love about this Sunday!!! ZOMG. First beta is tomorrow, so please keep us (and a number greater than 40) in your thoughts!

Let's see...a few others to carry me through what will undoubtedly be a long week...

1. Seeing old friends from college. Sometimes it feels so good to be around people that were part of your past life, and it feels even better to freely talk science and school things with people who know.

2. TH's belly pic plan. We recently bought a 50mm fixed lens, and TH apparently bought it with belly pics in mind. He confessed to me today that he already has planned where he will take them every two weeks (his schedule) and that he will put tape on the floor for me to stand on so that they all line up week after week. I know we are WAY ahead of ourselves, but it's nice to hear the man dream a little. The dreams were a little slow coming this week for obvious reasons, but it's helping me to hear them from him. Plus, how stinkin' cute is it that he's already thought this out? I'm also apparently not allowed to call myself fat from the baby(ies), as he insists that all I be allowed to say is "I'm pregnanter". LOL (((TH dreaming out loud)))

3. My presentation is over! Only three papers and a final (and a whole lot of betas) before MEXICO!!

4. Mr. Smith. I woke up to him being the little spoon this morning after a craptastic night of sleep. (My presentation was at 10am in the city, and I kept waking up all night certain that I was oversleeping. Not fun.) Kitty cuddles are simply the best. Whistling kitty noses are pretty fun, too. :D

5. The weekend is OVAH! Hello, Beta Day.

Clearly I am a little preoccupied. I just feel *good* about this one. I've never seen a test that dark. Someone or ones are working so hard in there! ♥

So, what's going to take you into Monday morning with not too many crabs in your pants?

18 April 2010

What I Love About Sundays

Happy Sunday!

Here's the IVF#2 update: I'm hyperstimulated. Surprise, surprise. E2 is 4300 or so. :/ I felt like CRAP yesterday afternoon, and I suspected this was the case. The good news is that today's u/s, we had 20 or 21 eggs! I will take this feeling like crap business if it means we're going to have chit ton of embryos growing and hopefully have some to freeze. Please, please, please!

On to the list...

1. Kitty cuddles. I've been on the computer for the past hours so, and Smith's been curled up under my arm, sleeping. He's adorable...when he's sleeping. ;)

2. Save Me, San Francisco. I am seriously obsessed with this album. And I finally remembered how to play music off of the computer and through the speakers, so I can set it up all by myself. Did I mention I have a techie husband? Something as simple as listening to music can be very, very complicated, no matter how "easy" he makes it for me. Button, what, yo?

3. Twenties. Did I mention we have a bunch of eggs? Maybe I did. Just call me Mother Hen, litterally. (Spelling intended.)

4. My new pillow. I've got neck/back issues from time to time, and I had TH buy me a memory foam pillow that is supposed to give great support to your neck. LOVE. I've been dangerously close to waking up with a kink, and I think this might do the trick. We also bought one of those microwavable bean things to wrap around your neck, per my mom's suggestion for combating headaches. Magical.

5. No work or school tomorrow! There are perks of retrievals. ;)

Take me by the hand, hand,
Take me by the hand pretty mama
Dance with your daddy all night long
Wanna hear some funky dixieland
Pretty mama come and take me by the hand

What's going to keep you dancing into Monday?

11 April 2010

What I Love About Sundays

Helllllllllllllllllllo! It's been a few days.

Let's cut right to the chase:

1. My Vacation Counter. How much do you love it? TH found it for me and set it all up. Something or other about a google doc needed to support a file? I don't know. All I know is that I have a kick ass counter.

2. Why do I have a kick ass counter? BECAUSE WE'RE GOING ON VACATION!!!! We're going to an all-inclusive in Mexico, and I have coined our trip "That's Why God Made Mexico". :) Booking this trip was the best thing we could have done. I feel so liberated. We leave mid-May. This cycle ends at the beginning of May, and I fully admit to not checking with the RE before booking this trip. I'm SO tired of living by what ifs, maybes, doctor appts and school! We're going on vacation, pregnant or not. And it is FANTASTIC to have something good to look forward to that doesn't hinge on anything else. This cycle works? We're off to Mexico to celebrate. This cycle doesn't work? We're off to Mexico to recuperate! It's win-win, my friends.

3. No homework. After a marathon last week of having to study for that exam, I am so glad to not have any responsibilities today. We had an easy weekend, even though it seems to have gone by too quickly, per usual.

4. Sleep. We were such lazy bones today. We slept until almost noon, and we ended up taking an hour nap in the afternoon. Wonder of all wonders, I'm actually kind of tired right now. I guess I needed some rest this weekend, eh?

5. Homegoods. I freaking love that store. Even if I don't find anything (which was not the case with this trip!), I still love wandering through the aisles. I'm certain this means I'm old (and probably married, too), but I don't care. All those little treasures are too much to handle, especially for the apartment obsessed like me.

So, what's yours? How was your week (end)? What's keeping you from a case of the Mondays tomorrow?

28 March 2010

What I Love About Sundays

The fog seems to have lifted for the time being. I'm still practicing avoidance about the shots starting (L.upron on Wednesday), but my overall mood (you know, the one that is about LIFE?) is much better. I survived this week, and there's nothing too crazy on the horizon this week. I just need to write this post and get my hungover butt in gear!
1. TH's birthday party. I did not want to have this party. I was dreading it, big time. But by the time I made it to Friday, where we could lounge around and watch TV all night with this horrible week behind me, the party didn't seem so bad. We had lots of fun and great company. I love our apartment, as you all know, LOL. I love it even more when it's filled with loud, happy, drunken conversation.
2. Fresh flowers. After acupuncture yesterday, I went to the Union Square Farmer's Market. I bought gorgeous tulips, which make me a happy, happy girl. There were also pu.ssy willows, which remind me of being little at my Grandma Bonnie's house. I used to love rubbing the little furry bits between my fingers and on my cheek, and this feeling was so soothing for me on my subway ride home from Manhattan. I also realized that Smith's paws feel like pu.ssy willows. :)3. TH. He wanted this party so badly, which is odd because he doesn't really like to celebrate birthdays. I keep remembering a comment he made when we had our first big infertility fight earlier last week (did I mention last week sucked?). He said we had kind of stopped living. I think this party had a little part of him making the choice for us to live a little, as given the option, I would have chosen the opposite. But he was right. We needed it. We needed to be surrounded by friends, laughter, and fun.

4. Erika the acupuncturist. Apparently two weeks ago, when I saw her last, I mentioned that I might be scattering appts throughout this IVF because I'm concerned about using all of our FSA money and possibly needing to pay for meds for this cycle or any future ones. At the end of my treatment, she told me that she was going to lower the cost of my visits by $20 so that I could come every week rather than every other week. I was completely surprised and very, very grateful. I've known her for 3 years now, off and on through treatments (all girly part related), and I think in a different situation, we would be friends. She was shocked at our new sperm-related revelations, and it was kind of nice to have her to talk about it with yesterday. I think both of us felt we were failing with my treatments, and I think we both benefited just a little from the conversation we had yesterday.

5. Unexpected love. During the party last night, I was talking to one of the girls. We'll call her Monti to make it a little easier. Monti and I are both good friends with Eves, but we're not actually all that close. We run different lives and are just pretty different people. She's more of the crazy party type, as is Eves, and that's just never been my thing. And up until recently, I had a pretty low tolerance for Monti. We were friendly enough, but I just wasn't that into her. LOL

So, last night, we're talking, and somehow marriage comes up. She confesses to me that her roommate, another friend of ours, have had numerous conversations about marriage and how they want the type of marriage that TH and I have. I couldn't believe these words, but oh how I needed to hear them! Monti said that she knows things aren't perfect, as nothing ever is, but that they can tell how much we love each other and how devoted we are to our marriage and our life together. It made my heart melt. Of course, that's how I feel about TH. But to hear that two others, one romantic, one seemingly not so much, can see that coming from TH and I? It made me happy. The conversation progressed, as she knows we've been trying but not much more than that. I said about how TH would be such a great dad and how I just really wanted that for him, and she stopped me to say that I would be a fantastic mom, too. TH would be great, but I would be great, too. Our baby would be lucky to have us.

I needed that unexpected burst of confidence, to know that our love is worn on our somewhat tattered but more or less perfect sleeves. It made me feel so good to know that it's out there for the world to see, not just in my heart.

So, what's going to lead you into Monday and the week ahead with a smile on your face? What made your week a little brighter?

14 February 2010

What I Love About Sundays

I've realized this year that I'm not a huge fan of V Day. It started in 2000, the first year after my Gramma passed away, and my lack of enthusiasm for this day has just grown. A day that is supposed to celebrate love (of any kind) shouldn't make those who are without a partner feel down and out. I can't get onboard with that type of clear delineation. Plus, do you really need one day to say you love someone? I think not. So, with that little mini-rant, Happy L♥ve Day. Even if you're flying solo this year, you're still surrounded by love. I'm sure of it. ♥

Without further ado, here's the list!

1. Homemade bread!

TH and I have been wanting to make bread for awhile, and I decided this long weekend was the perfect time for our first attempt. I am uber pleased with the result. (Oh, and as we speak, TH is slaving over pizza dough. I would just like to point out that I *told* him he wasn't measuring enough flour, but he firmly disagreed. Let's just say that I hear a heck of a lot of mixing going on in there right now, when all he should be doing is laying it out for the final rise. *zips lips to blogosphere only*)

But anyway, that bread was fantastic. I feel more Martha than you could ever imagine. Hello, I just made bread! From scratch! And no, not with a bread machine! Kick ass.

2. Samantha Jones has some b!tchiness in her. Who knew? We had a duel trip to the vet yesterday for check-ups, and Jones was NOT pleased when she got home. Smith had his an.al glands expressed (dude, it's an infertility blog...I think you can handle kitty butt talk) and received two shots. Jones, on the other hand, had the equivalent of kitty Pilates and one shot. Guess who was the giant biatch and wouldn't stop hissing at poor Smith all day yesterday? Sound familiar? Hmmmm....

3. Our camera. It's been awhile since I took out the good camera for some pics, and it did NOT disappoint. Those bread pics made my heart sing a little bit. I've got some built up creative energy lately that is dying to get out; I just need some time!

4. The Olympics. I love, love, love the Olympics. You should have heard me squealing away last night at the men's short track speed skating. I just love watching the competitions, the athlete profiles, the medal ceremonies, etc. I think TH might chuck a hockey stick (Sergei is playing for Russia!) if I tell him one more time just how much I love the Olympics.

5. 14 eggies. Maybe you heard? :) I really like the number 14, btw. Also, today is the 14th. i was born on 7/14. I have 7 eggs on each side, totaling 14! I have always loved my birthdate because 7 is a multiple of 14. Hey, my mom was a math teacher...what do you expect? But the 7s and 14s abound, and I am a happy, happy girl.

So, what'd you love about last week? What's Great About Today? (General answer: Marion!) What are you going to remember fondly as you force yourself out of bed on Monday morning?

07 February 2010

What I Love About Sundays

Just in the nick of time!

1. VS pajamas. I bought two pairs of winter pjs at the Semi.Annu.al Sale this year, and I couldn't be happier. I swear, I practically live in them on the weekends and in the evenings after work. Cuddly and comfy? Yes please!

2. Did I mention I got my period today? Maybe you heard. :) Woot! Moving right along!

3. Samantha Jones. She thinks Sundays are the greatest because I camp out on the couch with a textbook or at the kitchen table with homework, and clearly that means I am waiting for her to come demand some kisses! (Or sometimes she just happens to know how bored I am and how much I would rather throw her toy for a rousing game of Fetch.) Too stinkin' cute.

4. Room.ba. If you don't have one, you need on. Buy a refurbished one and save some money; definitely worth every penny. I have a clean floor, and all I had to do was move a few things around before settling in with my Genetics (ick!) book.

5. My organizational skills. I'm a Type A. I accomplished a lot today, and it always feels good. And we all know that we IFers need something to make us feel productive and actually effective every now and then.

What are yours? How'd Sunday and the past week treat you?

31 January 2010

What I Love About Sundays

It's back! :) Have you missed us?

1. Taylor Swift winning that Grammy just now. Pure joy is written all over her face. Gorgeous.

2. TH and the fact that he is capable of everything I am not. That man never ceases to amaze me.

3. Samantha Jones. She missed us these past few days and was entirely too cute today, begging for cuddles and games of fetch. She was also an effective distraction from my Genetics homework. (WHY did I think that was a good class to take this semester??)

4. The Most Adorable Cousin Evah. We stayed in Mich Friday night so we could spend some time with my two cousins, and I loved every moment of it. It means so much that they get so excited to see us, especially given that we haven't seen them in a year, which is a lot of time when you're under 10. Their smiles light up my heart and remind me why I'm fighting this fight.

5. Gone with the Wind. I've been reading this book for over a month, but I've yet to grow tired of it. I'm loving the consistency of having it to turn to when I'm ready to read something enjoyable. It's also allowing me to feel like I'm accomplishing something.

6. Lupron. I'm sure I will change my mind about this one in no time, but for now, it means the real start of this cycle. Here. We. Go.

What are your loves heading into the new week?

27 December 2009

What I Love About Sundays: Holiday Edition

1. My sister. There's never enough time to spend with her, and I'm always so grateful to know I'm still in the "cool list" with her. (She's almost 12.)

2. Having someone to tell all your sadness to. Sometimes you need that person who doesn't cringe or shrink away when you tell them just how badly your heart hurts in a given moment. I'm also glad to be that person for someone else. ♥

3. The Easiest Christmas Ever. My mom, step-dad, and siblings came to us, and this Christmas was magical. We slept late, made a big breakfast, took our time getting ready, went skating in Bryant Park, and then came back to make steak and ribs for dinner. After breakfast (read: 2pm), I told my step-dad that this Christmas was fantastic because I was still in my PJs, and if we had gone to Michigan, I would have already been to three different houses by that point.

4. Middle Brother. He skated with me at Bryant Park while Brother#1 skated circles around us. Both of the boys play hockey, and while I am a decent enough skater, they both can skate circles around me with their eyes closed. Middle Brother helped loosen my skates so I could get them on and then hung out with me on the ice. It was too cute. (He's also a teenager, so I'm always surprised when they are so kind. I guess I should stop that; they're good kids who love me.)

5. This cycle. It's going incredibly easily. I went in for monitoring yesterday, and we have two 17mm follicles, one on each side. I triggered this morning, and we go for the IUI tomorrow.

What's yours?

13 December 2009

What I Love About Sundays

I should love studying, but instead...

1. Our apartment updates! They distracted me this weekend (almost a little too well today), and they make our apartment even more homier than before. I will not lie, though, while I love them, they are going to take some time to get used to; it feels pretty different in here!

****You have to click on the pics to see the full thing. I have no idea how to fix this, and frankly, glycosolated proteins are a'callin'. I tried.

2. Our Christmas tree. We put it up last night, and I'm beginning to feel the holiday spirit just a little bit. If only I could write out our Christmas cards and get started on the present wrapping! But alas, homework calls.

3. FIL. He kept TH busy this weekend, and they are doing a major overhaul on our basement room. I think TH needed to do some physical work this weekend to get out some of this past week.

4. Lama. I had a few nice days with her this week while I was off and she was home recuperating from surgery. It's nice when you can just *be* with a friend.

5. Boris and Natasha from OPI. It makes me happy that it lasted over a week, and I will be sad to see it go tonight.

What's yours?

30 November 2009

What I Love About Sundays

Late. Again. Let's hope my period follows suit.

1. Sore right nip. Awesome.

2. Dancing my bootay off with Germans and the SMT on a Saturday night in the city. I so needed that fun.

3. Samantha Jones. She loves the SMT just as much as I do.

4. MIL telling TH that she was upset about The Effing Stork *for me*. It made me cry. :)

5. Outlet shopping.

Computer hibernating! Quick post!

What I Love About Sundays: Late Edition

Sunday = homework. Let me tell you, group work blows. I work; I know how to work with people. Making three people, unknown to each other until assigned to the group, work together and coordinate full-time vs part-time student schedules is sucktastic. That being said:

1. My group is awesome. We worked well together, and we got a LOT accomplished today. It was nice to think with other people and hear them fill in my gaps and vice versa.

2. TH is rockin' the house-husband thang right now. We've reached crunch time for home preparations for guests and Thanksgiving, and since I was at school, he was flying solo. He only had to call me twice during grocery shopping, and there were a LOT of baking goods on there. Awesome.

3. Friends. I can't effing wait for Wed when the Germans arrive and Fri when SMT joins the party.

4. Homework. I feel so freaking accomplished each Sunday night. I've used my brain. I've tackled things on my ever-lingering To Do List. I'm surviving grad school (thriving?) and IF and a new apartment and our marriage and work. I rock. Yep. True.

5. Mama D. She's the NP that I work with regularly, and she just makes me happy. She sent me a long email at 3am last night (because she's also in frantic school-induced homework hell) to teach me about some liver disease questions I had that pertained to my presentation next week. She's funny, quirky, and kind. And, she calls me "dear". Who can't love a woman like that, even if she does occasionally remind me of Dr. Dixon on Grey's?

What are your saving graces that will lead you into Monday morning slightly less scathed?

PS I swear nothing is going on over here. No sore boobs or anything. I do have a TON of CM, so much that I wondered if I have a yeast infection, though I don't have any other symptoms. I'm keeping an eye on it. I am pretty bloated, but it's not nearly as bad as the last IUI cycle. I had some endo cramps start up this evening on the bus ride home from school (dislike, the cramps AND the bus ride), but curling up in a ball, resting for 30 minutes and Tylenol did the trick. Miraculous, I know. 3dpiui, 4dptrigger. I POAS, and the line is not nearly as dark as I thought it would be. I'll pee again on Tues to check progress.

PPS I have a cute TH story that you might get to hear tomorrow...if you're lucky. Or, really, if I'm not psychotic between work and class.

I Almost Forgot! Sunday!

I started writing a post about my boring schoolwork, but you all were saved when I remembered it's What I Love About Sundays Day!

1. My hair. I'm having a fantastic hair day today, even though I didn't do anything with it and let it dry naturally. Really, I think it's my glasses making me feel cute and thus like my hair. :)

2. Clean sheets! Sunday is always laundry day, and I get through it waiting for the whites to finish so I can slip into fresh sheets at bedtime. *le sigh*

3. Peanut butter M&Ms. Need I say more?

4. Friends from Germany! Coming in 10 days! SMT time, too! Thanksgiving is going to be good this year. :)

5. FIL. He came by to check out the flood we have in the basement, which turned into a giant disaster. (Thank God we're in a condo and not a house today.) I can't find the right word for him, but he's always there when we need him. Dependable? Maybe, but it lacks my fondness for him.

What's yours?

PS Monitoring tomorrow. Can we all hope I have two follicles that are ready for trigger? I'm starting to get the want back in me...

A day late, and a dollar short...

What I Love About Sundays (The Monday Edition)

(Sorry, friends, I've got a nasty cold/flu and posting was not on my mind yesterday.)

1. Chicken soup from MIL. YUM. She heard I was getting worse, so she immediately started running through the food options that she could make for us. Too sweet.

2. TH. Seriously, this man rocks. He does nothing but take care of me, and he does it without complaint.

3. Slurpees. No matter how sick I am, they *always* make me feel better, sore throat or not. In fact, I'm getting another one today on the way home from the doctor. :)

4. Sleeping kitties. I was bundled up on the couch with Smith on my shoulder, the laptop on my tummy, and Jones on my legs. Snug as a bug in a rug!

5. Last day of the 'mid!

What's yours?

Speaking of Clomid, have any of you endo girls taken it? I'm getting twangs of cramps in my endo places (which is not making me happy) every so often. It's nothing crazy, but it makes me nervous that they are going to come full on, though this has not happened yet. I also have to say, I have no side effects. Do you normally get them while you're taking the meds or not until after you stop them? U/s and b/w on Friday the 13th!

What I Love About Sundays

Technical difficulties! NOT.

Once upon a time, I used to love a post on a message board I frequent called "What's Great About Today?" And lately, I've been seeing all these fun regular, series-type posts on some of my favorite blogs. Thus, I decided it was time for me to come up with my own.

Sunday has turned into major homework day. Thankfully, That Stupid Class won't be giving any more Stupid Homework that takes 24 solid hours to finish (no joke). I still want to use Sundays for homework days, and I have to get back to writing my Angel Mail letters with more regularity, so why not add a nice recap post about what's great from the previous week? Let's face it: some weeks suck. If I can go in with a happy little reminder of the goodness, it can't hurt, right? So, here we go. Our inaugural What I Love About Sundays post.

1. Our Halloween costume was freaking awesome. When I finally get off this bus, I promise I will do a post of our cuteness.

2. NYC cabs. Boston cabbies are azzhats who won't stop for anything, even when they are EMPTY. Last night made me love my city even more.

3. Bethie. I had a fantastic weekend in Boston, and for a few short days, infertility wasn't at the top of my brain's page.

4. The Turkey Song. TH has a song in Romanian that he sings to turkeys with red beards. I don't know why, but that song makes me SMILE. Big.

5. Our red kitchen cabinets. I'm having one hell of a time finding something to use for curtains in the kitchen, but I'll be damned if I get annoyed at the problems in color choice created by our red cabinets. Those bitches rock.
